Construction has been my career for nearly 40 years, but what keeps me interested isn't contracts or spreadsheets, it's helping people make better decisions.I've worked with contractors, subcontractors, developers and clients across projects of every size. Over the years I've learned that technical knowledge only gets you so far. The biggest challenges are usually people, communication, commercial judgement and recognising small problems before they become expensive ones.Today I work independently with growing construction businesses, providing practical advice built on experience rather than theory. Sometimes that's helping with commercial strategy. Sometimes it's reviewing a difficult decision, supporting a growing management team or simply providing an independent perspective when the answer isn't obvious.I don't believe in unnecessary complexity. Construction is already complicated enough. Good advice should simplify decisions, not make them harder.My role isn't to replace your team. It's to bring experience, perspective and calm judgement when it matters most.
